Our spring sale season opens every year on the third Thursday in April with a Private Treaty Open House Sale at Downey Ranch headquarters. This is your opportunity to view—and purchase—the entire spring offering in one place, on one day.
No pressure. No stress. No snap decisions.
Viewing and Tagging
All bulls have a posted base price.
You will be issued as many buyer tags (with your number) as you’d like.
Place your tag(s) on any bulls you’re interested in before 12:00 PM.
Take your time. Compare options. Ask questions.
Placing a tag gives you the right—but not the obligation—to purchase that bull. If four bulls meet your specs but you only need two, tag all four.
If you want a chance at everything we’re offering this spring, you need to be at DRI (or have made arrangements with us ahead of time) and have your selections made by the 12:00 PM start time.
If you can’t attend, don’t worry—we’re happy to handle your bidding or get you on the phone. As always, we’ll conduct your business with honesty and integrity.
Bid-Off (Only If Necessary)
If multiple buyers have tagged the same bull, we will conduct a bid-off beginning with the bull that has the most tags.
Bidding opens at the posted base price.
Participants keep their hands raised until the price reaches a point they are no longer interested.
If the final two hands drop at the same increment, the bull goes to the lower buyer number.
If you’d like a lower buyer number, register early here.
After a bid-off concludes, only the buyers who did not secure that bull may move their tag to another available bull.
When no bulls remain with multiple tags, the bid-off portion is complete. All single-tagged bulls are considered sold.
If you tagged more bulls than you need, please remove extra tags once your order is filled.
First Come, First Served
Once the bid-off portion concludes, the remaining bulls are available at posted prices on a straight first come, first served basis.
The entire offering will remain at Downey Ranch HQ until Thursday at 5:00 PM.
After Thursday, you can still buy a bull, but they will be at their home ranches.
Yearling and age-advantaged bulls:
All bulls are performance tested and backed by complete data, ultrasound, and genomics.
After Thursday, the bulls remain available but return to their home ranches:

Opening day (Thursday) is the only time the entire selection is available together in one location. If you want full access to every option before selections narrow, Opening Day is the day to be here.
BULL OFFERING:
Join us April 16 for the Private Treaty Kick-Off. Bulls will be available first come, first serve until they’re gone. Viewing runs 9:00 a.m. to noon, with the bid-off starting at noon. Be there early for first choice.
HEIFER OFFERING:
No Heifer offerings.
