Key Statement:
Developing Bulls for Lifetime Performance
Bulls are athletes preparing for the most important season of their year. Pushing bulls for maximum gain may look good on sale day, but excess fat—especially in the scrotum and liver—can compromise fertility, soundness, and longevity. Our bulls are developed on forage-based diets with adequate exercise so they can express genetic differences without sacrificing long-term function.
Replacement Heifer Development
Over-conditioned heifers often struggle to breed. If heifers are not transitioned to a forage diet before heading to grass, they often go backwards the first few weeks and decrease early conception rates. Fat deposited in the udder does not disappear easily and can reduce lifetime productivity. We emphasize moderate growth, forage adaptation, and rumen health to ensure heifers transition smoothly to pasture and conceive on schedule.
Why Replacement Heifer Development Matters
Heifers developed for longevity—not maximum gain—are more likely to breed early, calve unassisted, and stay productive for years. Proper development protects udder quality, improves rebreeding rates, and reduces early culling due to structural or fertility issues.
